Ruth DeYoung Kohler II’s forty years of visionary leadership led the John Michael Kohler Arts Center (JMKAC) to international recognition. Her passion for artists and community created an all-encompassing art venue in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, hailed for its contemporary exhibitions and performances, collaborative community programs, and preschool initiatives, not to mention its award-winning artist-designed washrooms. In 1974, Ruth started the Arts/Industry residency program, offering artists the opportunity to create new work at the pottery or foundry inside the Kohler Co. factory. In 2021, the Art Preserve opened, Ruth’s vision for the first art facility dedicated to artist-built environments. Ruth Arts is dedicated to the continued success of JMKAC and Ruth’s ardent support of this extraordinary arts center.
